7 Shades Of Blue - Day 4 - Revlon Smoke

Today's shade of blue is a vintage Revlon Top Speed. Smoke is a powdery blue with shimmer. I think this might be quite old, but I've no idea exactly how old, I really wish that these things had a release date on them. :-)

I adore these old Revlon bottles, I know the glass bottle shape hasn't changed over the years, but the cap has, and I think they just look so cool with the gold rings round the neck.

7 Shades Of Blue - Day 3 - Rimmel Electric

Hey, another day, and another blue polish for you. :-)

Today I've gone for something dark and sparkly in the form of Rimmel Electric, it's a dark blue base with blue micro glitter throughout, and it's from the Wear Maxx range.

Rimmel Wear Maxx Nail Polish in Electric

This polish is probably at least five years old as I've had it for quite some time, it's one of the bottles I had before I seriously got into polish. Weirdly I've never actually worn this, being more into bright colours, I never found myself picking this one up, but after swatching it I can see that changing in the future...

7 Shades Of Blue - Day 2 - Sally Hansen Flash

It's day two of 7 shades of blue and after the light blue creme I thought I'd go for something a bit brighter.

Today's polish star is Flash from the Sally Hansen Lacquer Shine line.

I picked up a few Laquer Shine polishes at some poundshops, but they were all red or pink shades, I found this for sale on ebay along with Glow from the same line so picked them up cheap. I don't know how many other colours there are, butI'd like to get them all if they're as nice as Flash.

7 Shades Of Blue - Day 1 - Maybelline Ocean Blue

After the fun I had last month doing seven days of green I thought I'd do it all again, but this time it's blue polish. I'll be sharing some great vintage polishes that I really hope you love as much I do.

First up is Maybelline Express Finish Ocean Blue.

Ocean Blue is a light blue creme, it doesn't really make me think of the sea when I look at it, it's more of a sky blue, but I'll let them off for the name as I really love this blue.

Application wasn't great, as you can see it goes on quite streaky, I used three coats here and I still couldn't get it looking great, it's a shame as I adore this baby blue on my nails. I think next time I try it maybe I'll paint it over a white polish to see if that helps.

Tomorrow I'll have another blue for you, don't forget to come back to see what it is.

Cheerio for now,

Heather. :-)

Something a little fishy.. Technic Mermaid Glitter

Today I have one of my favorite layering combo's that I've done lately. I was just swatching this, but I loved it so much I decided it deserved to be a full manicure, now of course I don't want to take it off!

Here's a bottle shot of one of my favorite glitters that I used for this.

Technic - Mermaid
Revlon - Black Star & Technic - Mermaid

I got Revlon Black Star from the pound shop, it's a Top Speed polish so dry's pretty quick, it says on the label to just apply one coat and it'll dry in 60 seconds, but I think their lying about that, I just two coats and it dried to the touch in a couple in minutes. I forgot to take a photo of this on it's own, but I can say that it's a nice glossy black with a subtle silver shimmer, it was also a lot less harsh looking than a staight black creme, so if I ever want to wear a black polish on it's on this'll be the one I use.

May Nail Polish Haul

I had another trip into town to see what bargains there were in the pound shops, and managed to get a few nice polishes, here's my haul photos. :-)
Revlon - Blackberry, Black Star, Valentine
Revlon - Cherry Chrush, Black Lingerie, Devilish
Technic - Bedazzled, Party Pink, Mermaid
Well I ended up with a lot of red polishes, which is unusal for me, but I can't resist when a polish is just £1! Out of all of these I'm really looking forward to trying out Technic's Mermaid, it's an amazing glitter polish and I might have to get a back up of it.

Have you found any bargains lately?

My love of Formula 1 and my F1 adventures

This is my first petrolhead post on this blog, I thought I'd offer up something a little different to all the polish, and tell you a bit about the sport I've loved since 1986 from when I was a kid.

I'm afraid I haven't got access to my old F1 photos so it's text only post, so feel free to skip this one if you like. :-)

This year is the first year since 2006 that I haven't been able to find the money to go to the British Grand Prix, I try to go every year as it's my only holiday each year, it's at least 4 days of camping with friends while being surrounded by people from around the world, all there to enjoy seeing fast cars flying around one of the fastest racetracks in the world.

I know motorsport isn't to everyones tastes, but I grew up around cars, so it's in my blood, I became a fan of F1 in 1986 when Nigal Mansell was driving , I was upstairs in  my bedroom and I could hear my Dad screaming "Go Nige, Go!", I wondered what was going on, and found my Dad watching the TV, I sat down beside him and that was that, I not missed many races since, and I'm a much bigger fan than my Dad was.

Nail Mail - Vintage Rimmel Haul

Today's a nail mail post, my amazing boyfriend treated me to some polish, I got a load of stuff that I just had to share with you. This post is going to feature the vintage Rimmels I got.
Please be warned this post is picture heavy!

Now as I've mentioned previously I love Revlons, but I also have quite a soft spot for Rimmel as it was one of the first brands of make up I ever bought. There are a couple of oldies that I'm hunting for, but I'd quite like to get all the old ones, they have made some great polishes over the years (although they're pretty dull right now).

I spotted a job lot of 14 Rimmels on ebay, I hadn't seen some of the names before, but  I could see from the photo there were a few nice colours so I thought I'd take a chance on them. There was a bit of a bidding war, but I managed to get them all for £10 including P&P, not bad for 14 polishes!

Enough talking about them, here's some photos for you.
L-R Rimmel 580 Chill Out, 611 Offshoot, 602 Mirror, 592 Industrial
L-R Rimmel 590 Atlantic, 898 Fanatic, 838 Extravaganza, 521 Toffee
