December's Nail Polish Haul

Okay, so I officially love the Boxing Day / New Year sales, there were far too many sales to look at, but the one that was top of my list was Sally's as I wanted to go pick up some cheap OPI and China Glaze polishes, needless to say Sally's didn't disappoint and I left a very happy girl. :-)

O.P.I - Russian Navy, Polka.Com, All Sparkly And Gold, Wonderous Star, Make Him Mine, Baby Please Come Home, Kiss Me At Midnight, My Favorite Ornament, Visions Of Love, I Snow You Love Me

November's Nail Polish Haul

T J Hughes reopened in Coventry this month which made me a little excited as when it was last open I used to get quite a few nice things from there at great prices. It has changed a little bit though, as there were quite a few make up items that I knew were for sale in pound shops but were at least £1.99 or more in T J Hughes, needless to say I avoided those bits, but that didn't stop me picking up one or two (okay, several!) polishes while I was looking around.

This month I also got a selection of Jess polishes from Poundland, this is a new brand that seems to only be sold there, and there is some really nice colours, we're talking duochromes and funky glitters, so I snapped a few up and will be keeping an eye out to see it they are a fleeting brand or if it's around to stay.

Right, let's get to the polish porn, I've still only got my dodgy camera that won't behave so I'm afraid the photos suck a bit.

I got some great polish this month, Maybelline released their Brocades collection which I love (I just wish we had the whole collection in the UK, I've seen the US collection and I need the green one). Barry M released four limited editions for christmas for Superdrug and Boots, two of which are lovely bar glitters. I love the Barry M christmas polishes, the matching foil caps are so cool, and let's face it who doesn't love matching caps.

September's Nail Polish Haul

Okay this month I may have gone a little crazy, but I couldn't help it when things are reduced to crazy prices, I just can't resist a bargain. Claire's have changed the shape of their nail polish bottles and I was lucky enough to go into the store when they were selling off all the old bottles, I pretty much grabbed one of every shade much to the amusement of the staff, I think they thought I was a little crazy, but I was super happy with my haul, especially as I got lots I'd had my eye on for a while.

I also got my first Colour Club polishes this month, one set was in the wrong packaging but I figured out the real name thanks to Google. Other exciting additions to my collection include my first A England and Gosh's Holographic Hero, I can't wait to see if it's any where near as amazing as Holographic.

Anyway, enough yapping, here's the photos...

Claire's old style bottles- Gold & Pink Holographic, Cream, Blue & Pink Sprinkles Glitter, Beige, Black Dark Red & Red Leather Effect, Silver, Beige & Green Glitter Sand, Light Blue & Dark Blue Denim Effect, Pink Glitter & Blue Crackle, five Duochromes, twenty two different glitters, six shimmers, and three cremes
Claire's new style bottles - Glitter Black/White, HG Blue Glitter, Velour, Fabulous

Rimmel Lycra Pro - Blue Vogue, Navy Seal, Stormy Skies, Sage Green, Coral Romance, Chic Cherry, Little Brown Dress

Constance Carroll - Neon Green, Neon Yellow, Pastel Blue, Signal Red, Sangria, Copper Tint, Diamond

July's Nail polish Haul

This month I went a little crazy, buying nail polish whenever I saw something that tickled my fancy. Although I have to admit it was pretty much all down to me doing a bit of retail therapy as July was an awful month for me, I started driving buses on my own at last, which wasn't always easy when you have buses breaking down and drunks threatening you, but I can deal with all that as I was always expecting it, it just tired me out much more than I thought it would, but the biggest reason for my retail therapy is because of my beloved cat Savvy, as you might know if you read this blog regularly Savvy was diagonosed with cancer just over four months ago and sadly he passed away this month leaving a very big hole in my heart, I'm always going to miss him.

Anyway, here's the photos of my haul, as with Junes haul post I had problems with my crappy camera, so these aren't the best photos.

Models Own Pro - Burnt Toffee, Vami-red, Stormy Night, Purple Party, Mauvy Night, Matt Purple, Black Grape, Yum Plum, Matt Green, Clay Away, Battleship Grey, Silver Screen, Olive Pearl, Sunny Honey, Golden Globe, Kiss My Brass

Cynthia Rowley - Unamed x3
Deborah Lippmann -Lady Sings The Blues, Brick House

An update..

Hi,

Some of you may have noticed that I haven't posted anything for a while, I'm sorry I've not been on the ball blogging-wise, but life has really gotten in the way.

Firstly I started full-time work driving buses, and it's been incredibly stressful and tiring, add to that my beloved cat Savvy got a lot worse with his cancer and last week I had to make the heartbreaking decision to put him to sleep. He went in the best possible way, happy and on my lap in the garden, I can't thank the lovely vets enough for doing a home visit so Savvy's last moments were as nice as possible.

I'm not really in the mood for blogging, but I hope when I feel better and happier I'll be back.

Cheerio for now,

Heather.

June's Nail Polish Haul

This is a very rough and ready post, I really need a new camera, you wouldn't believe it but these photos were taken in bright sunlight outdoors, but they were so dark I've had to fiddle with them to make them brighter, I'm certainly not going to be winning any photography awards for this post. :-)

So this month I got a few really awesome polishes, I think my favs are the Nails Inc ones. I havent worn them yet, but they are jelly bases with a golden micro glitter and they dry textured, I can't wait to swatch them for you as they're like nothing else I've seen.

So here's the very dodgy photos of this months haul...

Orly - Androgynie

Maybelline - Ceramic Blue, Shooting Stars
Barry M - Sour Apple, Liquorice, Superdrug Limited Edition SLE 2013 B

Vintage Vault - Revlon Street Wear - Envy

Hey, sorry I've been a bit quiet on the blogging front, I've started work at my local bus garage as a proper bus driver now, I'm still in training as I still have a lot to learn and there's routes to learn with a buddy driver, but it's been lots of fun so far, and I'm looking forward to when I get out on my own.

Anyway, you're not here for my bus driving adventures, so let's get onto some polish!

I love my vintage Revlons, and have quite a few, but I don't have many of their Street Wear range, partly because I don't see a lot in the UK, and partly because I know that once I start collecting them I won't be able to stop! One of my few street wears is todays polish, it's a pea green with super sexy golden shimmer running though it, it's called Envy and I think that's a pretty fitting name.

May's Nail Polish Haul

It's haul time again, you know every month I don't intend to buy as much polish as I do, but I just end up in situations where there's little bottles of polish telling me to take them home and cherish them, I just can't say no to them, I just hope they're happy in their new home. :-)

This months haul was made up of both vintage and new stuff, in fact most of it is new stuff which is unusual for me, but it's nice to have a mix as even though I always get a buzz from a great vintage find it's just as much fun to go into Superdrug or Boots and spot an exciting new polish that you just have to have.

Sally Hansen - Gray by Gray, Black Platinum, Angel Wings, Hidden Treasure

Vintage Vault - Rimmel - Time Out

Hey, before I start today's post, I just want to say that I think the google blog reader is going to end very soon, so any of us using it will need to find new ways to follow our favorite blogs, I'm now using bloglovin' and I've added a link on the right of my blog so you can follow this blog using bloglovin' if you like. :-)

Today's polish is one of my many old Rimmels, I love the old ones in their rounded bottles, they just look so cute, especially the 8ml sized ones.

I don't know why Rimmel's new polishes are 90% cremes these days, I mean, have cremes in the range by all means, but throw something else in the mix. They have launched four duochromes and three glass flecks, but they're not part of the core range, when I look at the old core range polishes Rimmel kicked ass with those ones, duochromes and plenty of funky shimmer all round. I think they're getting better but maybe they should add a little spice to their next core collection.

Anyway, today's Rimmel is from the 60 Seconds Vinyl Shine Range and is called Time Out and I have no idea when this one came out.

Vintage Vault - Revlon Color Beam - Bright Sky

Hi guys, I've got a slightly ironic polish for today, it's called Bright Sky, and here in the UK the sky is anything but bright, we've got yet another day of grey sky and rain, but at least the gardens getting watered so that's something.

Todays polish was from Revlon's Color Beam collection, it was made up of sheer polishes that were packed with shimmer that gave the polish a glowing look. The collection came out in 2005 and included Beam Of Pink, Flash Of Fuschia, Glow Rosy, Lavender Light, Bright Sky, Night Light, Starlight and Sunstruck. For some reason this collection came with silvery grey caps instead of the standard black which I quite like as it makes them stand out from the rest of my Revlon collection.

In the bottle it's a bright blue, and on the nails it's just the same, but it is a sheer polish so obviously you can see your nail though it, I ended up using four coats to see if I could get it opaque but it wasn't going to happen, but the extra coats did build the colour more and helped with the streaky application.

Vintage Vault - L'Oreal - 416 Venus

Hi. I hope you've all had a nice weekend, mine's been nice, I've been enjoying the sunny weather and watching the Monaco Grand Prix and the Indy 500 both of which were good races.

Today I've got a vintage beauty for you,  it's an old L'Oreal LaquiResist called Venus and it's pretty special.

There's just something about vintage polish with glitter that always gets me excited, so when I got this I was really happy. Venus is a lovely wine red jelly with silver glitter in it, it's like a starry night polish but in red. The glitter's not too in your face as it's not the most reflective glitter, but it makes for a very nice looking polish, and it's very classy for a glitter polish. :-)

2true Glitterati - Shade 5 - Blue & Green Glitter

I don't know much about the brand 2true other than it's only sold in superdrug in the UK, at least I've not seen it for sale anywhere else. It's a cheap brand, the polishes cost £1.99 each and you can usually get 3 for £5.00. I haven't got anything from the brand for a while, but the other day I saw three glitter polishes that tickled my fancy so I snapped them up.

They were from the Glitterati range, and today I'll show you one of them, it's called Shade 5, I know, why oh why can't they give the polishes a name, it's pretty enough to deserve one, I'm going to call it Mermaid Scales, as I think that's a much more suitable name, especially as it's a blue and green multi sized glitter.

Sinful Colors - Last Chance

I got some good news yesterday, I'm going to be starting work as a bus driver soon, they've got a place for me now so I'll have a bit more training and then go to my local garage after that. I'm a bit nervous about carrying passengers as it's such a precious cargo, but I think I'll enjoy it once I start, and I'm certainly looking forward to getting paid, there's a huge list of things I want to buy, although I think I might have to save up a bit before I can buy a pinball machine. :-)

Right, on to polish, today's polish is from Sinful Colors. Last Chance was a pound shop purchase, and I was pleased to get it as I didn't own any dark green cremes. It's a deep dark forest green, and it dries slightly darker than the bottle colour.

Green Fingers - My Garden in Spring 2013

Today I thought I'd share some pretty pictures from my garden. These are mostly from my one and only border that I've managed to get planted, it runs down one side of my garden, and it makes me feel that I'm getting some where, the rest of the garden is still full of weeds, and the border spurs me on as it's so lovely to see everything grow and flowers bloom, hopefully one day the whole garden will be finished.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the photos.

Maybelline Color Show - Polka Dots - Chalk Dust

Today I've got a brand new polish for you, I popped into town the other day and while in Superdrug saw a new limited edition collection from Maybelline. The new polishes are called Polka Dots and are part of the Color Show range, there's four in the collection and I love everyone of them, probably because they are full of black and white glitter which I don't have yet in my stash.

The polishes in the collection all have the same black and white glitter in them but the base colours are different, Shooting Stars has a blue jelly base, Speckled Pink is a pink jelly base, Rain Forest Canopy has a green jelly base, and the polish I'm showing you today is Chalk Dust, which has a clear base so you can layer it over any colour you like.

I decided to layer Chalk Dust over Bourjois So Laque Jaune Trendy (you can see my swatches of it on it's own here), I thought it'd be fun to have a yellow base and I think it shows off both black and white glitter perfectly. It has a mix of four different sizes of glitter, and just one coat gives you plenty of glitter on your nail while still letting the base colour shine though.

Bourjois So Laque - Jaune Trendy

Hey,

Yesterday I did a really stupid thing, while in a pet shop I put my little finger through the bars of a cage to give a cute little degu some fuss, I have degu's myself and they were acting like happy little fellas, so when when one came up to the bars to say hello, I thought I'd give him a tickle, well he had other ideas and with no warning tried to take a chunk out of my finger. It didn't really hurt much, but it bled everywhere, I've never seen so much blood come out of such little cuts. Luckily it didn't bleed for long and I went home cursing myself for being so stupid.

The other thing I was annoyed about was that he bit my swatching hand, so in my next two posts you'll have to put up with a cut finger as well as my normally bad cuticles and dry skin, so sorry about that.

Anyway, let's get onto the good stuff shall we? Today I've got a Bourjois So Laque polish, it's
from the Paris Show Time Summer 2011 collection, and it's called Jaune Trendy. It's a mustardy yellow creme that is bright enough to satisfy lovers of bright colours, while being the kind of yellow that will appeal to those who'd normally shy away from anything too in your face.

Boots 17 - Wishing Star

At Christmas I picked up this lovely polish from Boots, it's from their 17 range and is called Wishing Star, I managed to grab the last bottle on the shelf and I'm glad I did as not only was it limited edition, but it's also quite a stunner.

Wishing Star is an interesting little polish, it's a beautiful golden foil that has a slight duochrome colour change at certain angles. In some lights it's a pale gold and in others is much more yellow, and it even leans a bit blue, whatever light conditions it's in, it's always super reflective.

As always I've taken loads of photos, I've tried to show it in as many different lights as possible to show you how it changes.

Models Own - Snowflakes

Yesterday I showed you Rimmel's My Denim, well today I'm going to show you what I put on top of it. :-) What with My Denim being a creme I thought it'd be a good idea to try out Models Own Snowflakes over the top.

I've lusted after Snowflakes for a while, I love flakies and I don't have any quite like this so I couldn't wait to add it to my stash. The flakies are more like torn up peices of irridescent glitter as they're alot thicker than traditional flakies, they flash, pale gold, green, blue and purple.

So, I should love this polish, but I don't, the clear base is so thick that it makes the polish really difficult to use and I would've thought that Models Own's base for their glitters would be a billion times better than a cheap unknown brand from the pound shop, but it's not, it's worse.

Maybe I got a bad batch or something, I hope so as if I didn't I won't ever be buying a Model's Own glitter ever again, I hate paying out good money for something that's no good. But I do have to admit, it looked super pretty....

Rimmel Lycra Pro - My Denim

You know what, I don't own all that many creme polishes, I only tend to buy them when they're cheap (I'm talking £1 here) or I really, really like the colour, but what's really interesting is that most of my creme polishes are modern Rimmels, I collect Rimmels, and I just can't resist it when there's a colour I don't have and it's only a pound, that's how today's polish ended up with me, I do love pound shops. :-D

I always think that cremes are boring, and every time rimmel proves me wrong. My Denim is from the Lycra Pro range and comes in a 12ml bottle so you get plenty of it, which is good as this is a pretty sweet colour. It's a sopshicated blue, not bright and in your face, and it's also not too dark (I'm not really into colours that are so dark they just look black), the finish is lovely as well, all glossy and rich.

Orly - Fowl Play

Today's polish is a pretty well known polish, and there's countless swatch photos out there already, but I'm still gonna post about it as it's my blog and I'll do what I like. :-)

I got my bottle of Orly's Fowl Play last year, I was a bit late to the party as this polish was released as part of the Birds of a feather collection in autumn 2011, but better late than never, especially with a polish this cool.

Fowl play has one of my favorite things in it, flakies (they go from red to green), as well as blue glitter and silver microglitter, all contained in a rich purple base...

Barry M - Yellow Topaz Glitter

Yay! It's the weekend, which for me will mean watching lots of Formula One action on the telly. :-)

Today I thought I'd share a really nice glitter with you, it's Barry M's Yellow Topaz Glitter, it's a clear base with a mixture of gold and holographic glitter in three different sizes, microglitter, small and larger hex glitter. I love the combo of gold and holo, it just seem so much more exciting than just plain gold glitter.

I decided to use black as my base coat, I thought the contrast would be good, I liked how it made the glitter stand out and I think it's certainly the right choice.

Green Fingers - Sedum's grown from cuttings

The name of this blog is Polish, Plants & More..., well I have had plenty of posts about polish, a few about "more", but only two about plants.

When I started this blog, the two things in my life keeping me sane were my growing polish collection and my garden, so it made sense to blog about both. I've been very slack when it comes to the plant posts, so to make up for it I've put this post together.

I love my garden, but I haven't had much money to spend on it, plants are surprisingly expensive, my way round not being able to buy many plants is to grow my own from cuttings, I'm still not a great gardener so I stick to plants that will grow easily, one type is called Sedums, they're evergreen and cover the ground well so help keep the weeds down.

I took cuttings from a few plants and thought it'd be fun to show you what I do...

Some cuttings I took from my garden, with the lower leaves removed, and one with some little roots.

Vintage Vault - OPI - Music Hall Curtain Call

In my collection I have a few cheap-ass polishes, a ton of drugstore polishes and a few expensive ones, OPI's fall into the expensive category for me as I live in the UK and they cost more than I'm willing to pay, but I do have a few that I've got on sale and off ebay cheap, although I do have to admit I paid full price for Lights Of Emerald City but that was a treat for starting my new job.
Today I thought I'd go up market with my blog and have an OPI, but don't worry I'll be back to showing you cheapy stuff again soon. :-)

Music Hall Curtain call is from opi's 2006 Christmas collection Kick Up Your Heels. I got this and Berry Good Dancers from the same collection in a joblot that was dirt cheap (I'm talking less than £1 per bottle) and I instantly fell in love with it. It's a polish that just glows in the right light, and is a bit of a chameleon as the colour changes in different lights (so I ended up taking a ton of photos, sorry), the best way I can describe this polish is that it's copper with gold highlights, but all that shimmer sits in a pinky base which makes the copper lean towards red when the lights not on it.

I took way too many photos of this, but hopefully you'll get the idea of how nice this polish is. :-)

BYS - Pink On The Brink

Well the weather here is still beautiful, normally in the UK as soon as it's a bank holiday it rains so it was nice that it didn't yesterday. I've spent most of the weekend in the garden, I've been trying to get on top of the weeds and decide where I'm going to plant some new plants I got cheap, I'll do a post about it all soon. :-)

Today is yet another nail polish post (what a surprise!), and today I thought I'd have a modern polish instead of vintage. I picked a BYS called Pink On The Brink, it's a cheap brand I picked up from a market stall in Coventry. As with most cheap brands it didn't want to dry, but it did look pretty so next time I get it out I'll be grabbing my bottle of quick dry top coat.

Pink On The Brink is a pink jelly with a mixture of super tiny silver glitter, small pink glitter and slightly larger holo glitter. I used two coats in the photos below.

Vintage Vault - Cutex Color Quick - Mischief

Hi, I hope you're all having a good weekend, my weekends been good so far, there's lots of motorsport on TV this weekend so I'm happy, today I'll be watching the UK's BTCC, and then the US's Indycar and Nascar races. :-)

The other week I showed you one of my vintage Cutex's called Slime (click here if you want to have a look), it was a nightmare to apply, so I wasn't holding out much hope for todays polish, but thankfully today's Cutex Color Quick had a formula that's so much better and easier to use than Slime.

Out of all the Cutex's I picked up this was the one I was most excited by. Mischief is a charcoal polish with silver microglitter mixed in, depending on how the light hits it, the polish can look black or grey. I've got other polishes like this, but I think this is one of the best black with glitter polishes I own.

Vintage Vault - Sally Hansen Prisms - Golden Tourmaline

Golden Tourmaline was one of the very first Sally Hansen Prisms that I owned, when I started collecting polish it didn't take me long to come across the Prisms polishes and it was love at first sight. Like so many other polish collectors I decided that I'd quite like to have as many as I could find and I've got got quite a few now, but I'm still missing a lot, at least I like the thrill of the chase and it's always great when you get to cross them off your wishlist.

Golden Tourmaline's a nice bright red holo, it's well worth adding to any Prisms collection, I'm sure you'll agree once you've seen the swatches. :-)

April's Nail Polish Haul

Hi guys,

I'm so excited with this months haul, I've had the most amazing luck with crossing some long time lemmings off my list, and I also found a Revlon Zing polish to add to the list of Euro Zings that Revlon produced (see my Zing collection here). It was my birthday in April and my lovely fella took me polish shopping and helped me pick out some of the W7's and I was given the Topshop's as well.

The lovely market stall in my town is closing so I grabbed a load of their W7's while I could, I'll miss that little stall, I got some real gems from there in the past.

Anyway, enough waffling, here's the piccy's of my haul.

Revlon - Jungle Zing, Cherry Zing, Silver Star, Metallic Silver, Copperglaze Platinum, White Whisper
Revlon - Velvet Zing (this was an OMG find, and I didn't believe it was real until I had it in my hands)

Vintage Vault - Sally Hansen Velvet Frost

Hi guys,

I hope you're having a lovely weekend, the weather here's been a bit all over the place, but I haven't minded too much, as I'm pretty tired and haven't really been up to doing much.

Today's polish is an old Sally Hansen New Lengths called Velvet Frost. It's a sexy rich green, and it's a not leaving my stash anytime soon as I think this is one of the nicest greens I own.

The photos are in direct sunlight, and I used two coats, the formula was the usual flawless Sally Hansen formula, and I think that if you love greens you should snap this baby up if you see it. :-)

Barbara Daly - Pirate

Hi guys,

First things first, I finally passed my bus driving test! I can now go and drive a bus or coach on my own on the roads. It's been quite a journey, and I started to think I was jinxed and I wouldn't pass, but today everything came together and I'm so happy I've passed. I've still got a bit of training to do, but in just over a week I'll start work officially as a bus driver. :-)

In other news, you can now follow my blog using bloglovin', to do that all you have to do is click on the link on the side of my blog.

Right, polish time... After a few vintage polishes I've got a newish one for you for a change, I thought I'd share Barbara daly's Pirate with you. Barbara Daly is a brand sold in Tescos in the UK, I think Pirate is now discontinued but there'll probably be a bottle turn up on ebay at some point if you fancy it.

Pirate is a putty brown base with a lovely green shimmer, it's one of those ugly but awesome colours that is unlike anything else in my stash.

Vintage Vault - Cutex Color Quick - Slime

I hope you all had a lovely weekend, the sun stayed out here and I got some work done in the garden but not as much as I had planned as I watched the Formula One race and that took up plenty of time, it was a good race, with some good overtaking moves, although I was complaining about the rubbish commentary from sky through most of it, but hey ho, you can't have it all. :-)

Right, let's get to today's polish. I love yellow, it's my favorite colour, so I was pretty happy to find a vintage yellow Cutex, I liked it even more when I saw that it's called Slime, what a cool name for a polish, although I would've expected it to be a bit more green with that name.

This polish makes me remember why I hated painting my nails in the 90's, the formula's were pretty hit and miss and seemed to be more miss for me, I hated that polish would take forever to dry or would dry as soon as it hit my nails making it impossible to get a nice finish, this cutex is one that dries too fast, and it's just a strange formula in general.

I used three coats, the first two were dreadful looking and lumpy, and the third didn't really help matters so I gave up and threw on a thick coat of clear on top which made it look a tiny bit better. The biggest problem was that it seemed to dry instantly and didn't self-level, so I ended up with lumpy polish that I had no chance of making look good. Anyway, even though it looks awful here are my photos, please look away from the nasty cuticles.

Vintage Vault - L'Oreal - 901 Jamaica

It's a beautiful day here today, the sun is shining and it's lovely and warm outside, I'm so happy that spring is finally here.

To celebrate the wonderful weather I've picked a beautiful glowing L'Oreal called Jamaica. Jamaica is from the Laquiresist line, and is pretty old now. Indoors, in the bottle it's an orangey yellow, but on the nail it's a bright rich yellow, and outdoors in the sunshine it just glows.

Vintage Vault - Revlon Top Speed - Whitty

Hi guys,

It's a beautiful sunny day here, I have the weekend off and don't go back to training until wednesday, I plan on getting out in the garden and hopefully digging a wildlife pond as well as planting some cuttings. I'll hopefully have plenty of time for catching up on my nail polish swatching aswell.

Right, nail polish time, todays polish is a Revlon Top Speed called Whitty, it's a metallic light purple and I have no idea how old it is but it's probably at least over six years old.

The first coat was streaky as hell and the brush marks were the worst I've ever seen, I did two coats, but it was still full of brush marks, it's probably the weirdest formula I've ever seen, it's got bubbles in the bottle and seems like it's made of molten plastic, it's pretty odd, it's a nice colour though.

My Revlon Zing Collection

Happy Birthday to me, today I'm celebrating being another year older, I plan to play pinball in a localish pub, if the pinball machine is still there. I really love pinball and would love to have my own one day, but for now I'll be happy with any old pinball fix. :-)

As it's my birthday I thought I'd feature my favorite nail polish brand Revlon with one of their most amazing collections, the Color Zing Collection from 2000. When I started getting into polish the Zings went straight to the top of my wishlist, duochromes are my favorite polishes so it was no surprise that I fell head over heels for them. I wouldn't have known about them if it wasn't for Kaz and her posts about them on her Pretty Random blog (see her wonderful swatches here), if you love vintage polish you really should check out her blog, but be warned your wishlist will get bigger. :-)

There is two Zing collections, the black capped ones which are from the US, and the gold capped ones from the UK and EU. Below are the photos of the ones in my collection.

Savvy the cat, and bus driving....

Hi Guys,

I'm so sorry about being a rubbish blogger lately, so much has been going on and I just haven't either had the time or felt like blogging.

One of the biggest reasons I haven't felt like blogging is because my beloved cat Savvy has been ill, I found a lump on his neck and took him to the vets, after blood tests and biopsies they've found he's got lymphoma, so we've now got chemotherapy drugs to give him as well as steroids, the vet is hopeful that as he's still pretty healthy and perky that the drugs will help keep the cancer in check and we'll hopefully at least have a few more months with him.

I'm heartbroken that I'm going to lose him, I've had him since he was a kitten and he's now 13 which is a good age, he's been with me through some really bad times in my life as well as some great times, and he's like my best friend, he's also the cleverest cat 've ever met and he's a complete softy.

My March Nail Polish Haul

Hi guys,

It's a bit late but here's my March haul, yet again without trying to I'd ended up buying more polish than I need, but some was a treat using my first weeks wages from my bus driver training, and some was to cheer me up after discovering my cat Savvy is ill.

I got a mix of new and old, and I can't wait to try some of them out.

FREEBIES!!!!! 1st Anniversary blog give-away. :-D

EDIT - Give-away cancelled for now, but I will re-run the give-away and everyone that has entered so far will automatically be enetered again. I'm sorry I haven't got round to picking a winner, but life got in the way, here is my post about what's been going on.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't believe I've been blogging for a year now (my blog's anniversary was actually in Feb, shh.. don't tell anyone I missed it), I still feel like I'm new to it, but I'm happy that I'm picking stuff up along the way. You might have noticed that I got out the pasting table and put up some new wallpaper I made, I hope you like it, I think it represents me alot better and it looks more fun now.

The best bit about blogging has to be the wonderful people I've got to know, especially Kaz from Pretty Random and Dana from Polished Claws Up, both girls inspired me to start my own blog, and now we're doing swops. :-)

Anyway, I wanted to celebrate a whole year of blogging and I thought I'd do a give-away. I've always been lucky and have won a few little competitions over the years, so it'll be nice to share some of that luck with someone else. Here's what's up for grabs.

In keeping with my love of vintage polish I'm giving away some Sally Hansens and a Revlon.

February's Nail Polish Haul

Hi guys, sorry about the lack of activity lately, I've just not been feeling up to it, but I'm back and will be a better blogger I promise. :-)

Normally I'd do a haul post on the last day of the month with Dana from Polished Claws Up!, Dana's had a busy month so isn't doing a haul post this month, but still go and check her blog out here. I've been a bit behind as I needed to borrow a camera to take the photos, my photos aren't great, but hopefully you'll get the idea.

This months haul included my first Versace polish, I had to get it for it's cute little box, and I got a ton of old Cutex polishes which I just couldn't resist, and here's my lastest haul, as always, if there's any you'd like to see swatched let me know. :-)

Snap Crackle and Pop! James - She's A Star

I've decided that on wednesdays I'm going to do Snap Crackle and Pop! posts, it's just an excuse for me to share my sometimes dreadful music taste with you, I love reading about the music other people love and I've added so many songs to my music collection thanks to blogs, so hopefully if you like music you'll enjoy these posts too.

After the last song I shared (read the post here) I thought I'd spare you more of the same, and share a song from my favorite band James.

Now depending on your age and where you live you'll either know James or you won't, James have been around since the early 80's and are still going strong today, in the UK their biggest hit was Sit Down, in the US they're known for Laid which was used in the American Pie films, and in places like Portugal Getting Away With It was a hit.

I've been a fan since 1991 and have seen them on tour so many times, they are seriously the best live band I've ever seen, if they're touring near you go see them, you really won't regret it. So the song I'm gonna share with you is She's A Star, it was the lead single from the Whiplash album in 1997.
