Vintage Vault - My Rimmel Collection

There are three brands that dominate my polish collection, Revlon, Sally Hansen, and Rimmel. Rimmel was the first brand that I really connected with as a teenager, I remember going into Boots and buying my first Rimmel nail polishes. I wasn't into make-up but when I saw the bottles of Mania and Zeitgeist it was love at first sight, and then years later it was the act of trying to replace my gunky bottles that led to my current obsession and huge stash of polish. So I have a bit of a soft spot for the brand, and I do love those super cute rounded bottles.

Anyway, over the last few years I've collected quite a few old Rimmels and thanks to the pound shops I've got a ton of new ones too. I'm not really a fan of Rimmels core colours, to be frank they're soooo boring, but lately they've been issuing some funky limited edition collections so that makes up for it.

Anyways, that's enough yapping, lets get onto the polish porn shall we?....

Utopia, Arabia, Earth Star, Venus, Amazon
Embankment, Life Force, Millennium, Mania, Kinetic
Ministry, Industrial, Mirror, Chill Out, Off Shoot
Purple Rain, Climax, Zenith, Magnetize, Shocking
Gallactic Blue, Star Trek, Aqua, Atlantic, Fanatic
Golden Wonder, Organic, Toffee, Star Dust, Twinkle
Radical, Zeitgeist (Miss-spelled label!), Pop Idol, Moonbeam, Mesmerise
Zest, Electrify, Exotica, Extravaganza, Paris
Time Out, Hot Rock, Powerhouse, Magenta
Scented - Strawberry & Banana (I got these back in the early or mid 90's!)
Look at the cute name sticker things!
Galaxy, Chick, Spank, Blutopia (late 80's or early 90's)

I think so many of these are awesome, I really couldn't pick a favorite, but if my house was on fire I'd have to grab Moonbeam, Mesmerise and the two scented ones as those are probably the hardest ones to find again.

One big problem with old Rimmels is that they have a horrible habit of thickening up, most of the bottles were sold as new, but you can see that none of them are full to where they should be. So if you're collecting these old Rimmels don't be too hard on a seller if your bottles not full, it's just how they go, hopefully modern Rimmels won't have the same problem in the future.

I've only worn a few of these as they need thinner, but one day I'll work my way through them and swatch them all. Old Rimmels should get more love as they really do kick ass.

I'd love to know if there's any you'd like to see swatched, or if there's any that you think I should be adding to my wish list, my wish list for Rimmels only includes Sonic so far so please feel free to help me expand my stash!

Cheerio for now,

Heather. :-)
