April's (Very Belated) Nail Polish Haul

Okay, before you judge me, yes this is a MASSIVE haul, but it was my birthday this month so I have an excuse, and of course most of these polishes were just £1 from the good old pound shops.

Exciting buys this month include the amazing Spiderman collection from Revlon (I'm so happy to see the UK get proper limited edition collections from Revlon), my first Mavala's, and I used my Boots points to treat myself to Essie's Lot Of Lux.

The pound shops were great as I got all the Revlon Colorstays, Top Speeds and Duos, as well as a ton of Rimmels and Sally Hansens, I love getting polish that costs £7 in Boots etc for just £1, it's even better when they are polishes that weren't even released in the UK. :-)

Revlon - Super Powered, I'm Electro, 1000 Volts, Electrified Web, Spidey Sense, Gwen's Crush

Rich, Chameleon, Raspberry Scone, Not So Blueberry
Girly, Ritzy, Graffiti Top Coat 732 & 678, Gold Goddess

Ruby Wing - Sweet Cream - It turned orange!

Okay, so I loved this combo of Ruby Wing Sweet Cream and Seventeen's Monochrome glitter so much that it's been on my nails for a week and a half, which might be a record for a manicure staying on that long and still looking decent.

During that time it's been getting exposed to the sun every now and then, and it's happily going from light to dark as if by magic, but something weird has happened as the days have passed, it's turned orange and I've no idea how or why. It's kinda cool though.

I thought I'd take some photos as I'd like to know if this is normal, or have I got a bad batch?

I have to admit I do rather like how it looks, it reminds me of a tiger's colours, and as the photos below show, it still changes colour.

Ruby Wing - Sweet Cream + Seventeen - Monochrome

When I saw Ruby Wing polishes in my local Sally's I was soooo excited, I grabbed all of the ones they had in stock and literally skipped all the way home.

If you don't know, Ruby Wing polishes are colour changing and scented, they react to UV light, so are one colour indoors and change in the sun when you go outdoors, the light through glass is also enough to activate the change as well.

I decided to try out Sweet Cream first out of the ones I got as I thought it'd make a fun layering polish, I wasn't wrong as you can see below. The photo shows the colour change as it goes from light to dark, it's pretty awesome.

For this combination I started with two coats of Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure Ivory Skull which is my white of choice right now, then two of Ruby Wing Sweet Cream, and then on top of that one coat of Boots Seventeen Monochrome.

Barry M released four limited editions for christmas for Superdrug and Boots, two of which are lovely bar glitters. I love the Barry M christmas polishes, the matching foil caps are so cool, and let's face it who doesn't love matching caps.

July's Nail polish Haul

This month I went a little crazy, buying nail polish whenever I saw something that tickled my fancy. Although I have to admit it was pretty much all down to me doing a bit of retail therapy as July was an awful month for me, I started driving buses on my own at last, which wasn't always easy when you have buses breaking down and drunks threatening you, but I can deal with all that as I was always expecting it, it just tired me out much more than I thought it would, but the biggest reason for my retail therapy is because of my beloved cat Savvy, as you might know if you read this blog regularly Savvy was diagonosed with cancer just over four months ago and sadly he passed away this month leaving a very big hole in my heart, I'm always going to miss him.

Anyway, here's the photos of my haul, as with Junes haul post I had problems with my crappy camera, so these aren't the best photos.

May's Nail Polish Haul

It's haul time again, you know every month I don't intend to buy as much polish as I do, but I just end up in situations where there's little bottles of polish telling me to take them home and cherish them, I just can't say no to them, I just hope they're happy in their new home. :-)

This months haul was made up of both vintage and new stuff, in fact most of it is new stuff which is unusual for me, but it's nice to have a mix as even though I always get a buzz from a great vintage find it's just as much fun to go into Superdrug or Boots and spot an exciting new polish that you just have to have.

Sally Hansen - Rhinestone Frost, Soft Blush, Shy, Lavish
Sally Hansen - Gray by Gray, Black Platinum, Angel Wings, Hidden Treasure

Boots 17 - Wishing Star

At Christmas I picked up this lovely polish from Boots, it's from their 17 range and is called Wishing Star, I managed to grab the last bottle on the shelf and I'm glad I did as not only was it limited edition, but it's also quite a stunner.

Wishing Star is an interesting little polish, it's a beautiful golden foil that has a slight duochrome colour change at certain angles. In some lights it's a pale gold and in others is much more yellow, and it even leans a bit blue, whatever light conditions it's in, it's always super reflective.

As always I've taken loads of photos, I've tried to show it in as many different lights as possible to show you how it changes.

December's Nail Polish Haul Part 3 - OPI & Barry M etc

It's part 3 of my December haul post, and I still can't believe how much polish I ended up getting, I'm so happy that my lovely fella got me polish for xmas and I also got a massive surprise when my Dad's girlfriend gave me some OPI minis.

After christmas I popped into Sally's where I normally just lust after OPI's and then walk out with nothing, but this time they had a sale on and there was no way I could resist a bargain and I came out with a polish I never thought would sit alongside my pound shop polishes. :-)

So this post contains the most expensive polishes I got in december, but in true Heather style I didn't pay full price for any except one, and that was only £2.99!

I hope you're ready for yet more polish porn, because here it comes.....

Barry M - Ruby Glitter, Diamond Glitter, Yellow Topaz Glitter, SLE 2012 A, SLE 2012 B
Barry M Magnetics - Red Sparkle, Green Sparkle, Sparkle Gold, Multi Sparkle, Sparkle Blue, Violet

Vintage polish from my past - Part 2

I hope you're ready for some more old polish, as it's time for the second part of polish from my past.
I really have loved going through my old polish, it's funny that I went through a very short period of about a year painting my nails, and then stopped. I don't think I painted my nails until nearly seven years later and again it was only briefly, so it's nice to have kept the polish I had, some of them I really love and a couple are really quite cool as you're about to see.
L-R Tuesdays Girl, Star Gazer- Neon Green, 17- Unknown Purple, 17 - Green Genie, 17 - Light Reactive, Miss Selfridge - Purple Glitter
All of these are unusable at the moment, they've all thickened up, but then they are over 10 years old. I'm going to get some thinner so I can do swatches, although these aren't the most unique colours, apart from the last two, which are just too far gone, and that's my fault for trying to thin them with polish remover thinking that would do the trick, boy was I wrong!

Bargain Nail Polish Haul

I went shopping today and I got some nice cheap polish, so I thought I'd share my haul with you.

I always go into pound shops and forget to pick up a basket, it's a pain when you find they've got a lot of good stuff, I'm standing there with all these polishes in my hands and I get to the point where I need to decide which ones to get but I don't want to put them down in case someone else nabs them! Baskets are very handy as I found out today, only problem was that I ended up buying all of the polish in my basket, naughty me!

I got two Maybellines from the market, and from the pound shops I got some more Rimmels for my collection, a random brand I've never seen before, a really old 90's Boots 17, my first Astors, and best of all some Sally Hansen HD's.

I do love being able to get polish that was never released here, it always feels like I've found something special.

Here's a few photos of my bargains, let me know if there's any you'd like me to review.

L-R Sally Hansen - Opal Truth, Collection 2000 - Hot Purple, Boots 17 - Heavenly, Collection 2000 - Shameless, Maybelline - Icy Pink, Maybelline - Missing Label, Active Cosmetics - Pixie
