August's Nail Polish Haul

Well I'm not slowing down when it comes to polish, although this month my buying habits changed as I've been mostly buying from ebay as I haven't had time to go into town to the good old pound shops.

This month I tripled the number of Hard Candy polishes in my stash, although a few were not what I was expecting thanks to the seller advertising them as new (which for vintage polish reads un-used old stock) when in fact they were well used and in one case half used. but at least the seller did the decent thing and sorted it out with me, even though they were still adamant they were "new".

I added a bunch of old Rimmels to my collection after learning a hard lesson, if there's something you want on ebay as a buy-it-now and you think I'll wait a bit as they've got loads and they always re-list them, well buy it. I was holding off buying a bottle of Rimmel Sonic for that very reason, spending my money on stuff that was one time only auctions, and well, wouldn't you know it, when I went to buy it the other week, the listing had ended and the seller no longer has the stock, so I'm kicking myself and am rather gutted that I missed out on Sonic at a decent price. I have now learnt my lesson!

As well as the Hard Candy's and Rimmels, other vintage goodies added to my stash include yet more Revlons, some sexy L'Oreal's, a black label OPI and my first CND. I got some new stuff as well including more Jess from the poundshop, some Orly's, my first Elf's and the OPI Brazil Liquid Sand set, just because I love that finish and I had to have the yellow, I really wish they'd done full sized bottles of all the colours in this set.

So as usual, here's a ton of photos of all my goodies. :-)

Hard Candy - Flick, Ego, Complex, Angel, Pixie

Hard Candy - Anonymous, Retro, Trance, Liquid, Girlie

Vintage Vault - Rimmel - Amazon

So, who doesn't like a sexy green polish? Today I have a pretty nice one, it's Rimmels Amazon, it's one of their old Lasting Finish range. I wish I knew when this is from, I hate not knowing the age of polishes, but there's not much info about old polish out there, thank goodness for all the vintage polish bloggers out there that have put so much work into researching old collections.

So, on to the polish, Amazon is one of those polishes that changes depending on the lighting conditions, it's a blue toned green, with beautiful shimmer that is mostly green but it does have a slight blue duochrome at certain angles. Polishes like this are the reason I love vintage polish, polish was just so much more funky in the 90's and early 2000's.

I took way too many photos of this baby, I wanted to capture how good this is, so sorry about the amount of photos there are for you to check out! :-)

Vintage Vault - My Rimmel Collection

There are three brands that dominate my polish collection, Revlon, Sally Hansen, and Rimmel. Rimmel was the first brand that I really connected with as a teenager, I remember going into Boots and buying my first Rimmel nail polishes. I wasn't into make-up but when I saw the bottles of Mania and Zeitgeist it was love at first sight, and then years later it was the act of trying to replace my gunky bottles that led to my current obsession and huge stash of polish. So I have a bit of a soft spot for the brand, and I do love those super cute rounded bottles.

Anyway, over the last few years I've collected quite a few old Rimmels and thanks to the pound shops I've got a ton of new ones too. I'm not really a fan of Rimmels core colours, to be frank they're soooo boring, but lately they've been issuing some funky limited edition collections so that makes up for it.

Anyways, that's enough yapping, lets get onto the polish porn shall we?....

April's (Very Belated) Nail Polish Haul

Okay, before you judge me, yes this is a MASSIVE haul, but it was my birthday this month so I have an excuse, and of course most of these polishes were just £1 from the good old pound shops.

Exciting buys this month include the amazing Spiderman collection from Revlon (I'm so happy to see the UK get proper limited edition collections from Revlon), my first Mavala's, and I used my Boots points to treat myself to Essie's Lot Of Lux.

The pound shops were great as I got all the Revlon Colorstays, Top Speeds and Duos, as well as a ton of Rimmels and Sally Hansens, I love getting polish that costs £7 in Boots etc for just £1, it's even better when they are polishes that weren't even released in the UK. :-)

Revlon - Super Powered, I'm Electro, 1000 Volts, Electrified Web, Spidey Sense, Gwen's Crush

Rich, Chameleon, Raspberry Scone, Not So Blueberry
Girly, Ritzy, Graffiti Top Coat 732 & 678, Gold Goddess

February's Nail Polish Haul

Oh dear, I did it again, I just couldn't resist those pound shops and bargain hunting and I've ended up with quite a haul again, good job I got extra Helmer's to keep all this extra polish in!

Models Own had a great 50% off sale so I snapped up a few things off my wish list including Disco Inferno which for some reason my local Boots store never get any stock of even though every other colour gets re-stocked. Other goodies include some super sexy Nubar duochromes, Bling-tastic Nail's Inc Crystal Cap's, Amazingly cheap China Glaze Crackles for £1 each, yet more Poundland Jess glitters, and some more Laura Paige, which is a brand based just down the road from me.

January's Nail Polish Haul

Well January was a fun month for collecting polish for me, I got my first Essie's and some great bargains from the pound shops, on top of that I ordered some Nubar polishes from feelunique which got damaged on their way to me, it lead to a very long winded story to get what I ordered, but I have to say that their customer service team were really great and made sure I got my polishes in the end.

I also got yet more Jess polishes from Poundland, it seems they're being a bit sneaky and are changing some of the polishes as they go along, so there is a few different versions of some colours, in fact I've found four different versions of one colour so it looks like I'll have to do some posts about the different ones I've found for those interested in them, they certainly are coming up with some pretty awesome colours.

Okay, enough talk, here's my haul....

November's Nail Polish Haul

T J Hughes reopened in Coventry this month which made me a little excited as when it was last open I used to get quite a few nice things from there at great prices. It has changed a little bit though, as there were quite a few make up items that I knew were for sale in pound shops but were at least £1.99 or more in T J Hughes, needless to say I avoided those bits, but that didn't stop me picking up one or two (okay, several!) polishes while I was looking around.

This month I also got a selection of Jess polishes from Poundland, this is a new brand that seems to only be sold there, and there is some really nice colours, we're talking duochromes and funky glitters, so I snapped a few up and will be keeping an eye out to see it they are a fleeting brand or if it's around to stay.

Right, let's get to the polish porn, I've still only got my dodgy camera that won't behave so I'm afraid the photos suck a bit.

Barry M released four limited editions for christmas for Superdrug and Boots, two of which are lovely bar glitters. September's Nail Polish Haul

Okay this month I may have gone a little crazy, but I couldn't help it when things are reduced to crazy prices, I just can't resist a bargain. Claire's have changed the shape of their nail polish bottles and I was lucky enough to go into the store when they were selling off all the old bottles, I pretty much grabbed one of every shade much to the amusement of the staff, I think they thought I was a little crazy, but I was super happy with my haul, especially as I got lots I'd had my eye on for a while.

I also got my first Colour Club polishes this month, one set was in the wrong packaging but I figured out the real name thanks to Google. Other exciting additions to my collection include my first A England and Gosh's Holographic Hero, I can't wait to see if it's any where near as amazing as Holographic.

Anyway, enough yapping, here's the photos...

July's Nail polish Haul

This month I went a little crazy, buying nail polish whenever I saw something that tickled my fancy. Although I have to admit it was pretty much all down to me doing a bit of retail therapy as July was an awful month for me, I started driving buses on my own at last, which wasn't always easy when you have buses breaking down and drunks threatening you, but I can deal with all that as I was always expecting it, it just tired me out much more than I thought it would, but the biggest reason for my retail therapy is because of my beloved cat Savvy, as you might know if you read this blog regularly Savvy was diagonosed with cancer just over four months ago and sadly he passed away this month leaving a very big hole in my heart, I'm always going to miss him.

Anyway, here's the photos of my haul, as with Junes haul post I had problems with my crappy camera, so these aren't the best photos.

June's Nail Polish Haul

This is a very rough and ready post, I really need a new camera, you wouldn't believe it but these photos were taken in bright sunlight outdoors, but they were so dark I've had to fiddle with them to make them brighter, I'm certainly not going to be winning any photography awards for this post. :-)

So this month I got a few really awesome polishes, I think my favs are the Nails Inc ones. I havent worn them yet, but they are jelly bases with a golden micro glitter and they dry textured, I can't wait to swatch them for you as they're like nothing else I've seen.

So here's the very dodgy photos of this months haul...

May's Nail Polish Haul

It's haul time again, you know every month I don't intend to buy as much polish as I do, but I just end up in situations where there's little bottles of polish telling me to take them home and cherish them, I just can't say no to them, I just hope they're happy in their new home. :-)

This months haul was made up of both vintage and new stuff, in fact most of it is new stuff which is unusual for me, but it's nice to have a mix as even though I always get a buzz from a great vintage find it's just as much fun to go into Superdrug or Boots and spot an exciting new polish that you just have to have.

Sally Hansen - Gray by Gray, Black Platinum, Angel Wings, Hidden Treasure

Vintage Vault - Rimmel - Time Out

Hey, before I start today's post, I just want to say that I think the google blog reader is going to end very soon, so any of us using it will need to find new ways to follow our favorite blogs, I'm now using bloglovin' and I've added a link on the right of my blog so you can follow this blog using bloglovin' if you like. :-)

Today's polish is one of my many old Rimmels, I love the old ones in their rounded bottles, they just look so cute, especially the 8ml sized ones.

I don't know why Rimmel's new polishes are 90% cremes these days, I mean, have cremes in the range by all means, but throw something else in the mix. They have launched four duochromes and three glass flecks, but they're not part of the core range, when I look at the old core range polishes Rimmel kicked ass with those ones, duochromes and plenty of funky shimmer all round. I think they're getting better but maybe they should add a little spice to their next core collection.

Anyway, today's Rimmel is from the 60 Seconds Vinyl Shine Range and is called Time Out and I have no idea when this one came out.

Rimmel Lycra Pro - My Denim

You know what, I don't own all that many creme polishes, I only tend to buy them when they're cheap (I'm talking £1 here) or I really, really like the colour, but what's really interesting is that most of my creme polishes are modern Rimmels, I collect Rimmels, and I just can't resist it when there's a colour I don't have and it's only a pound, that's how today's polish ended up with me, I do love pound shops. :-D

I always think that cremes are boring, and every time rimmel proves me wrong. My Denim is from the Lycra Pro range and comes in a 12ml bottle so you get plenty of it, which is good as this is a pretty sweet colour. It's a sopshicated blue, not bright and in your face, and it's also not too dark (I'm not really into colours that are so dark they just look black), the finish is lovely as well, all glossy and rich.

April's Nail Polish Haul

Hi guys,

I'm so excited with this months haul, I've had the most amazing luck with crossing some long time lemmings off my list, and I also found a Revlon Zing polish to add to the list of Euro Zings that Revlon produced (see my Zing collection here). It was my birthday in April and my lovely fella took me polish shopping and helped me pick out some of the W7's and I was given the Topshop's as well.

The lovely market stall in my town is closing so I grabbed a load of their W7's while I could, I'll miss that little stall, I got some real gems from there in the past.

Anyway, enough waffling, here's the piccy's of my haul.

Revlon - Jungle Zing, Cherry Zing, Silver Star, Metallic Silver, Copperglaze Platinum, White Whisper
Revlon - Velvet Zing (this was an OMG find, and I didn't believe it was real until I had it in my hands)

February's Nail Polish Haul

Hi guys, sorry about the lack of activity lately, I've just not been feeling up to it, but I'm back and will be a better blogger I promise. :-)

Normally I'd do a haul post on the last day of the month with Dana from Polished Claws Up!, Dana's had a busy month so isn't doing a haul post this month, but still go and check her blog out here. I've been a bit behind as I needed to borrow a camera to take the photos, my photos aren't great, but hopefully you'll get the idea.

This months haul included my first Versace polish, I had to get it for it's cute little box, and I got a ton of old Cutex polishes which I just couldn't resist, and here's my lastest haul, as always, if there's any you'd like to see swatched let me know. :-)

Rimmel - Tangerine Queen

Hi, I can't believe it's snowing again, I'm meant to change the wheel on my boyfriends car, but there's no way I'm doing it in the snow.  If you're wondering I'm the one that does all the car stuff because I used to work on cars for a living and have training, my fella's the computer wizard and helps me out when I kill my laptop. :-)

Today's swatch is from before Christmas, my nails were loooong then, I think I might prefer them shorter, what do you think? Anyway, the polish on my nails is Rimmel's Tangerine Queen from their Lasting Finish range. In the photos I used three coats, it needed them as it looked streaky, but it worked out okay in the end. I found this quite thick and it dries quick, so you don't have much time to get it right, but it levels out nicely so that's a plus. It's a great Summer colour, although, I'd happily wear this all year round, I love having something bright on my nails.

January Haul Fun with Polished Claws Up!

Today's post is my 100th post, I can't believe I'd done that many already, I'm really enjoying blogging, so here's to another 100!

Last month after doing my December haul post, Dana (from Polished Claws Up) and I thought that it'd be fun to a monthly haul post together, we both love vintage polish and I think we're both pretty excited to see what we've both found this month. so after you've seen my haul make sure you check out Dana's haul too.

I really enjoyed getting all the polish together that I've bought this month even though it's a little bit crazy when you see how much you buy in a month, but it's a nice record for me to see what I got and when. I've also noticed that my haul posts are some of my most popular so at least I know that people want to see them.

This post is a bit embarrassing as I have got so much this month, and it's made this post a bit (to say the least) picture heavy, anyway, here's some photo spam. :-)

Dupes? Rimmel - Gold Save The Queen Vs Miss Sporty - 010 Beetle Wings

Hi guys, well it's still snowing, I've lost count of how many days the snow's been here for now. I've had to reschedule my bus driving theory test, the test centre isn't near me, I have to go on the motorway and in this weather I believe that if you don't need to add to the traffic on the roads stay at home. I actually enjoy driving in these conditions, but I know it'd be just my luck to get stuck behind an accident or something. Hopefully next week will be better. Anyway, enough waffling about me, how about some polish talk instead?

Being a Rimmel collector I have been waiting years for them to bring out some duochromes again, Zeitgeist and Mania were among the first polishes I ever bought when I was younger and I've cherished them ever since (even though they've turned into a gloppy mess) so I was excited to see their Metal Rush range. But duochromes seem to be like buses you wait for one and then they all turn up, as along with Rimmel, Miss Sporty decided it was time for them to give us some duochromey goodness in the shape of their Metal Flip range.

Now anyone in the UK will no doubt have noticed that two polishes from both brands are very alike and I thought it might be useful to check for dupes as one brand is half the price of the other.

So without further ado, here is Rimmels Gold Save the Queen up against Miss Sporty 010 aka Beetle Wings.

Rimmel - London Clouds

Years before I ever bought my first nail polish I remember being bored at school and painting my nails with anything I could get my hands on, hi-lighters (I've always had a thing for neon), graphite pencils, water colours and of course every teenage girls favorite, Tipp-ex (I think some countries have Wite Out instead). Tipp-ex as a polish was actually pretty bad, it stunk, it chipped real easy, and it always showed brush marks, but it was ahead of it's time by having a matt finish. ;-)

I thought Rimmel's London Clouds (from their Lasting Finish line) would look just like Tipp-ex on my nails, I actually never considered using it on it's own, I got two bottles cheap, one for frankening with and the other to use under glitters. I finally got it out to use as a layering polish during Christmas, and decided that it actually deserved a post of it's own.
